Pointed Sticks

This past weekend i was lucky enough to see the Pointed Sticks play 2 reunion shows here in Vancouver, and it was incredible! Alot of people are skeptical about bands getting back together, and it's understandable considering how horrible these shams can turn out (like the Modernettes show a few weeks back). But on Saturday Jan 6th all original members of the Pointed Sticks walked on stage and showed people that they still have it in them. Lead singer Nick Jones sounded exactly as he did on all those old records, and the back up harmonies were spot on perfect. And of course musically every member still had the chops to play all the hits. And speaking of hits, the 2nd song of the set was the one i wanted to hear the most; Perfect Youth. After that it was all gravy, and let me just say, I love gravy!! The afternoon show found the band playing a 60minute set, while the evening show found them playing the same set with a second encore of covers by the Sonics and Abba. The band was filming the sets and were projecting the feed onto the brick wall behind them, and were splicing in old pictures and record covers. But the best thing i saw projected on the wall was the message to late drummer Dimwit about how much they all miss him.
I left Richards on Richards and walked home in the rain with a huge grin and my head filled with all the great songs i was just lucky enough to hear.
